Govt had inadequate evidence when they arrested Former Spy Chief and Ex-State IT Guru
In a surprising turn of events the Lazarus led Government admitted in court that they were still gathering evidence and were not ready to present their case.
The told the judge that the, state was not ready to start presenting its case in which former National Intelligence Czar Dr. Kenam Kalilani and former State House Chief ICT officer are accused of stealing computers and intelligence systems.
The prosecution instead applied for 30 days adjournment, but the magistrate has ruled that the case is adjourned to 2 November 2020.
This parleys with what are happening with Chisale. People now question the piling on of accusation against him and believe most of those will not be proved in court.
The prosecution was asked to provide disclosures by today, but they have failed, showing that they were in a rush to arrest people before collecting all the evidence.
The case has been adjourned to 2nd November 2020 where the magistrate will give direction on how the case should proceed.
Earlier, the prosecutor Moja Phiri handed over the case to ACP Kalua who was also absent at the court.
The lawyer for the accused Madalitso Kausi applied for the dismissal of the case as the State is not ready and until today has not charged the two accused
