State not ready with Malawi former spy chief Kalilani, ex-State House ICT guru Chingwalungwalu’s case; Disclosures unavailable
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The state is not ready to start hearing of a case in which former National Intelligence Boss Dr. Kenam Kalilani and ex-state house IT expert Chancy Chingwalungwalu were arrested in July 2020 for allegedly stealing government intelligence computer system. .
The Maravi Post understands that the state has applied for 30 days adjournment but the magistrates has ruled that the case is adjourned to November 2,2020.
The state was asked to provide with disclosures by today, August 31, 2020 but it has failed.
The case has been shifted to November 2,2020 where the magistrate will give direction on how the case should proceed .
Earlier the prosecutor Moja Phiri handled over the case to ACP Kalua who was also absent at the court.
The lawyer for the accused Madalitso Kausi applied for the dismissal of the case as the state is not ready and until today has not charged the two accused .
The Malawi Police Services in Lilongwe on Saturday, July 25, 2020 arrested former director of National Intelligence Services, Kenam Kalilani and former State House chief ICT officer Chance Chingwalungwalu for allegedly stealing government intelligence computer system.
