PHALOMBE-(MaraviPost)-Women beneficiaries of 200 sewing machines donation in Phalombe district have described Deputy Minister of Lands and Urban Development, Abida Mia as their great inspiration as they embrace their dream of bidding farewell to poverty and becoming self reliant.
Through their songs and testimonies, the women who have graduated from tailoring and designing skills empowerment program said, for a long time, they have been hearing great things that Abida Mia has been doing to uplift the lives of women in her Chikwawa Nkombezi Constituency.
One of the beneficiaries, Hawa Sikweya said she has always been hoping to meet this great woman who has the welfare of women at heart hence her great excitement upon fulfilling her dream of getting her certificate of skills training completion from her hero, Abida Mia.
“I can’t suppress my joy upon meeting this great woman and hearing her words of insipiration, which I have so much cherished and kept as my guiding star and I can gladly promise that I am geared to translate her advice of women prosperity into reality,” said Sikweya, a middle aged mother of 2.
Similar event had on a previous day taken place at Kambeje in Mulanje where Mia was also celebrated by women who had graduated from the same empowerment skills program.
The donation was sourced from Aqsa, an Islamic religious organisation that works on improving lives of women to become self reliant.
