#Malawi fresh polls:DPP Northern gurus in hiding

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The ousted Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regional governor for the north Christopher Mzomera Ngwira on Saturday, June 27, 2020 disclosed that party gurus are hiding following the June 23 fresh polls.
Ngwira was addressing the news conference in Mzuzu.
Mzomera claims that is receiving threats from Tonse Alliance followers that together with his boys will be dealt with after the official announcement of the elections.
He however told reporters that on Thursday 25 June,2020, MCP/UTM supporters were seen harassing DPP supporters at Mzuzu shoprite round about on the presence of policemen who were just watching.
“My car was stoned at roundabout and as l drove towards my house in Lubinga l found other supporters waiting for me at a junction saying bad words to me and threatened to deal with me after the official announcement of the results,” said Mzomera.
He added, “I’m worried because most of my boys stays in locations where there is no security and their lives are in danger”
Malawians are waiting for Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC)’s official results of the fresh presidential poll held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 where unofficial results indicates that Lazurus Chakwera the torch bearer of Tonse alliance is leading with 61%.
DPP/UDF alliance runningmate Atupere Muluzi who is also the son to the former president of Malawi Bakili Muluzi on Friday, June 26, 2020 reacted to the speculations of their loss by asking their supporters to remain calm as they are waiting for the official results.
Meanwhile a leaked video is showing Dr Lzarus Chakwera leaving his Namiwawa resident in Blantyre on a convoy with government armed security officers to Lilongwe.
