Malawi first female pilot Lusekelo Mwenifumbo donates solar batteries to Karonga’s Lughali primary school

KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-Lusekelo Mwenifumbo who is the first young female pilot in Malawi on Wednesday took off flying and donate solar batteries to Lughali primary school which is in Karonga district with the aim of helping learners with their studies.

Lusekelo who is a first born child to former legislature for Karonga central constituency also interacted with standard eight girls at the school with the aim of inspiring them.

Speaking to the media, the young female Malawian Airlines employee said the donation is from her pocket.

“Karonga is my home and have been hearing stories that learners are failing to do their studies at the school due to electricity problem. I therefore decided to bail them out with the little I have,” she disclosed.

Lusekelo has further promised the learners an educational visit to Lilongwe where they are expected to visit Kamuzu Internatuinal Airport, Bunda University , luannar , Lilongwe college of health sciences among others.

Headteacher of the school commended Kusekero for the decision.

He said despite being affected by covid-19, the donation will help standard eight learners to do best in the examination.

Mirriam Mwalughali, one of the learners told the media that the visit of Lusekelo Mwenifumbo has given them an encouragement to work hard.

Meanwhile, her father, Frank Mwenifumbo has promised to electrify the school.
