Chakwera honors Malawians for his victory; Sworn in

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)– Malawians from all walks of life today gathered at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) Malawi square on Sunday morning , June 28, 2020 to witness the historical event of swearing in ceremony for the president and vice president elect Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Dr. Saulos Chilima as they took oath of the two offices respectively.

Making his acceptance speech at exactly 10:35am that took almost 18 minutes, the president elect Dr. Lazarus Chakwera said he will serve every Malawian in building a new Malawi.

He said it’s an honor for him to serve as the president of Malawi saying the founders of Malawi’ independence had a dream for Malawians to be free from oppression.

President Chakwera added that this is the dream that bides all Malawians together.

Malawi’ president further added that freedom is of no use when one is a slave to tribalism.

Dr. Chakwera in his speech told the nation that his sworn in alongside his vice has marked the beginning of thinking beyond a dream and the dawn of a new Malawi as they will offer a government that leads and not rules, a government that fights for citizens and not against them. Stressing on good governance using scriptures, the president promised to serve Malawians with his best.

This colorful ceremony that has been described as the rebirth of democracy and the dawn of a new Malawi by many political analysts and Malawians was attended by many deginatories among them former state president Dr. Joyce Banda, MCP’ former president John ZU Tembo, former official hostice Mama Cecilia C. Tamanda Kadzamira, MEC chairperson Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale, Speaker of the national assembly Catherine Gotani Hara and her first deputy Madalitso Kazombo, the Mayor for the City of Lilongwe her worship Juliana Kaduya, CIC for CFT, comrade Timothy Mtambo, Clergies from different denominations, members of the Rastafarian family, Nervas Mumba former vice president of Zambia and many high Commissioners representing their countries.
