Blantyre house boy jailed for theft by trick

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A 28-year old man Charles Heleks,is to spend the next 9 months in prison for stealing items worthy MK 1 million from his boss’s house in Bangwe township.

According to  Widson Nhlane Deputy Publicist of Limbe Police Station  the convict was employed as house boy by Richard Msiska who stays at Namatapa in Bangwe.

He said the complainant plies his business in Limbe and on February 1,2018,left home to business place.

He later received a phone call from one of his neighbors, telling him that Charles has stolen some items in the house and ran away.

“When he visited the house,he found that among the stolen items were;Plasma TV,DVD player, Decorders,Duvets, Bed sheets and K150,000.00 cash.All valued at K1,003,000.00”, said Nhlane.

Nhlane added that He has been at large until in the month of September when he was arrested at Kachere and his arrest helped the officers to recover all the said items which were positively identified by the owner.

Charles Heleks,pleaded guilty when he appeared before Third grade magistrate court at Dalton.

This prompted prosecutor Inspector Daluni of Limbe police to pray for a stiffer sentence,taking into account that he intentionally deprived his boss.

The presiding magistrate concurred with the state and on January 10,this year, slapped him with a jail term of 9 months, to deter would be offenders.

Police is appealing to employers to verify the criminals records of their employees with the police, to avoid employing suspicious people.

The convict hails from Mpasu village in Traditional Authority Chapananga Chikwawa.
